DBS Policy – Frontline Fire Training Ltd

Version 1.0 – January 2026

Next scheduled review: January 2027 or following legislative change.

Frontline Fire Training Ltd is committed to safeguarding children, young people, and vulnerable adults in line with our Safeguarding Statement and relevant UK legislation (Children Act 1989, Care Act 2014, and DBS regulations).

DBS Checks

  • All trainers and associates who may have unsupervised contact with children, young people, or vulnerable adults will hold an Enhanced DBS check (or equivalent barred-list check) where required by law, the client, or sector-specific guidance (e.g., schools, care homes, NHS).

  • DBS checks are renewed every three years or sooner if required by the client or Disclosure and Barring Service guidance.

  • We do not routinely conduct Basic or Standard DBS checks unless requested and justified.

  • Where a client requires DBS checks for trainers attending their site, we will provide evidence of current Enhanced DBS certification on request (redacted as necessary for data protection).

  •

Recruitment & Ongoing Checks

  • DBS status is verified before any work involving regulated activity begins.

  • Any convictions, cautions, or barring information disclosed during recruitment or renewal will be assessed in accordance with our Safeguarding Policy and DBS Code of Practice.

  • Staff are required to self-disclose any new convictions or cautions immediately. Failure to do so may result in suspension or termination.

Client Responsibilities

Clients are responsible for informing us in advance if DBS checks are required for their site or sector (e.g., regulated activity under the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006). We will comply with reasonable requests and provide copies of certificates where permitted.
